Wildlife Trust of India is a leading nature conservation organisation in India committed to the service of nature. The Centre for Bear rehabilitation and Conservation (CBRC) in a joint project of Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) and Department of Environment and Forest, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh; is rehabilitating rescued Asiatic Black Bear cubs back to the wild for the past 20 years.

With the generous support of KEPL, CBRC has successfully rehabilitated at least five (05)  rescued Asiatic black bear cubs back to the wild through the Centre for Bear Rehabilitation and Conservation in Pakka Tiger Reserve during 2019-2022.

Besides the orphan bear rehabilitation, KEPL extends support to cover other community initiatives.  The following are KEPL-supported CBRC activities that took place in the Financial Year 2021-2022:

• Hand-raising and rehabilitation of five orphaned bear cubs.
• Providing ex-gratia and accidental insurance to the frontline staff of Pakke Tiger Reserve.
• Construction and opening of the office wing (west wing) of CBRC
• Makeover of CBRC bear shelters and enclosures for better upkeep of bears under lifetime care.
• Providing community assistance by compensating cash crop loss due to elephants through the grain for grain program.
• Assisting the forest department in wildlife management activities like investigating the death of the wild animals, partaking in the annual fringe-area livestock immunization, policy matters etc.
• Celebration of key events like World Wildlife Week, Environment Day, Wold Elephant Day and Pakka Paga Hornbill Festival.
