Kirloskar Ebara Pumps Limited recognises that corporate excellence extends beyond operational performance to encompass meaningful stewardship of India’s natural heritage. During Q1 2025, KEPL continued its strategic partnership with RESQ Charitable Trust, supporting the Wildlife Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Wildlife Transit and Treatment Centre (TTC-2) in Pune. This collaboration exemplifies our dedication to creating measurable conservation impact while addressing critical gaps in wildlife emergency response infrastructure across India.
RESQ Charitable Trust, founded in 2007, operates as one of India’s leading wildlife rescue organisations, providing life-saving aid to over 6,000 wild animals annually across more than 240 species. Between April and July 2025, the facility admitted a diverse range of species, predominantly avian but also including mammals and reptiles, each presenting unique clinical challenges. Trauma-related injuries constituted the majority of admissions, including road accidents, electrocution incidents, territorial conflicts and entanglement, with each case demanding tailored medical responses from emergency stabilisation to surgical intervention and extended post-operative care.
The ICU provided life-saving care to several critically endangered and ecologically significant species during this quarter. With over 500 animals successfully rehabilitated and released during this period, the ICU remains a cornerstone of emergency wildlife care. Notable admissions included the Black-Crowned Night Heron, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Peregrine Falcon, Masked Booby and Indian Eagle Owl. Among mammalian patients, the ICU treated the Indian Pangolin—one of the world’s most trafficked mammals alongside the Striped Hyena, Indian Jackal and Spotted Deer. The ICU proved particularly vital during peak “manja” season, when numerous raptors including Crested Serpent Eagles and Short-toed Snake Eagles presented with severe wing and talon injuries. Backed by a multidisciplinary team of over 90 trained professionals, each animal received focused, expert care, strengthening RESQ’s mission to protect, heal and restore India’s wild species.
As we continue this partnership, we remain committed to supporting infrastructure that saves lives and fosters environmental responsibility across our stakeholder community.
