The Centre for Bear Rehabilitation and Conservation (CBRC) provides shelter, food and veterinary care to orphaned bear cubs with the aim of rehabilitating them back to their natural habitat.

It is the first specialised centre in India for the rehabilitation of Asiatic black bears. CBRC, established under the Pakke Conservation Project, is run in collaboration with the DoEFCC, Arunachal Pradesh and supported by IFAW and Kirloskar Ebara Pumps Ltd. (KEPL).

The following are KEPL-supported CBRC activities that took place from October- December 2021:

  • Acclimatisation walks were initiated for the five translocated bear cubs in the release site.
  • Care for five lifetime-captive bears at CBRC.
  • Documentation and film-making of the rehabilitation process of the bears by a team from ZEE Entertainment.
  • Treatment of an adult captive elephant, Tyseng.
  • Awareness for Conversation to school students from Seijosa.
