Wildlife Trust of India is a leading nature conservation organisation in India that is committed to the service of nature and wildlife. Its mission is to conserve wildlife and its habitat.

The WTI, in partnership with the International Fund of Animal Welfare (IFAW), organised the Emergency Relief Network (ERN). The aim of the project is to quickly and efficiently respond to animals; whether domestic or wild- that are under distress due to natural or manmade disasters.

In January 2020, with the help of KEPL, the project carried out the rescue and rehabilitation of birds that were injured due to Makar Sankranti or the ‘Kite Flying Festival.’ Hundreds of birds were rescued by a dedicated team of veterinarians, bireders, volunteers, wildlife rescuers and rehabilitators.

The response was improved with the financial support of Kirloskar Ebara Pumps Limited (KEPL) that supported WTI’s activities by offering the following resources:

  • Surgical kit
  • Wound management and dressing supplies
  • Supportive oral medicines
  • Emergency injectable medicine kit
  • Operation theatre supplies ( ot lights, fumigator, drapes, curtains)
  • Heater
  • Bulb
  • Electric hot pad
  • Bird rescue handling and housing supplies
  • Feeding and upkeep supplies
  • Plastic trays, boxes and other misc plastic items
  • Aviaries and holding enclosures
  • Tents
  • Miscellaneous institutional costs and contingencies
