Indian Herpetological Society (IHS) plays an instrumental role in the rescue and rehabilitation of wild animals. It is the parent organization of Pune Snake Park, Animal Rescue Center and Uttara School of Environment.

Pune Snake Park was started in 1986. Starting with a collection of 200 snakes, today it is one of the largest snake parks in the country having a diverse variety of snakes.

Kirloskar Ebara Pumps Limited (KEPL) funded the renovation of the rat snake enclosure during the Financial Year 2020-2021.
